Privacy policy

The short version.

Your work stays on your Mac.

We hold the bare minimum required to sell, license, and support the app.

Controller

The data controller is Kuria, MB, a Lithuanian private limited company (“Muet,” “we,” “us”). Privacy contact: info@muet.ai. This policy applies to the muet.ai website and the Muet desktop application.

What stays on your device

The contents of any files you open in Muet, anything you ask the app, and anything the app produces in response stay on your Mac. We have no servers that receive, store, or process that material. We could not produce it on request because we never have it.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run a paid software business and keep the app working:
  • Account & billing. Name, email, billing address, and payment method, collected by our payment provider on our behalf when you purchase a licence.
  • Licence record. Your licence key and an identifier for the device it’s active on, used to confirm your subscription is valid.
  • Mailing list (optional). Your email address, if you submit it on our site, used solely to email you about new releases. Unsubscribe in one click from any email.
  • Server logs. Standard HTTP request logs kept by our hosting provider (IP address, user-agent, URL, timestamp), used for abuse prevention and to diagnose outages. Retained on a short rolling window.

What we don't do

  • No analytics scripts. No cookies set by us. No fingerprinting. No advertising tags. No session recording.
  • No usage telemetry, no crash reports, no diagnostic uploads from the app.
  • No selling, renting, sharing, or trading of personal data, to anyone, ever.
  • No profiling, no automated decision-making with legal effect.

Lawful bases (UK / EU)

We process the categories above on the following bases under Article 6 GDPR:
  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): account, billing, and licence data, needed to deliver the product you bought.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): mailing list. Withdrawable at any time.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): server logs, for abuse prevention and operational continuity, balanced against your privacy.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): tax and accounting records held by our payment provider in accordance with applicable law.

Sub-processors

We engage these third parties to process personal data on our behalf:
  • Polar Software, Inc. Payment provider and Merchant of Record. Acts as an independent data controller for the transaction it processes. Polar privacy policy.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS). Email service provider for our mailing list. Brevo privacy policy.

We additionally use a standard web hosting provider with EU data residency for the muet.ai site and supporting infrastructure. We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA except where required to fulfil a transaction (in which case our payment provider applies the appropriate Article 46 GDPR safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses).

Retention

We keep account and licence data for as long as you have an active subscription and for the period afterwards required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 10 years for invoices in our jurisdiction). Mailing-list entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs are retained on a short rolling window, normally days.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and analogous laws (including the CCPA / CPRA in California), you have the right to:
  • Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a portable copy.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Have your data deleted (subject to retention obligations above).
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live or work.

Email info@muet.ai and we’ll respond within 30 days. For records held by our payment provider (receipts, refunds, invoicing), use your Polar customer portal: Polar is the controller of that data as the merchant of record.

Children

Muet is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly process data from children. If you believe a child has given us their email, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS for all web traffic and encryption at rest for credentials stored on your device by macOS. Payment details are handled exclusively by our payment provider under its PCI-DSS compliance.

Changes

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date above and notify active subscribers and mailing-list members at least 14 days in advance. Changes will not be applied retroactively to data we already hold.
